Ink and Blood: June Writing Duels

n June, we’re holding our writing duels at a new location. Open Books moved to the West Loop, and we’re going to invade their new store with all sorts of writing talent.

Not sure what to expect from a writing duel? Here’s a quick breakdown:

Hidden writers get a prompt and 10 minutes to craft a story.

As they write, the stories appear on-screen in front of an audience. The audience shouts at the writers, but they do not see who is writing what. Writers do not need to take audience suggestions, but they can–and often do–if they want to.

After two or three rounds, the audience votes on their favorite stories and the two writers with the highest number of votes compete for the ultimate win.

The Ink & Blood Dueling Society encourages costumes at every event. Admission is free.
