Approximately 3,000 Spanish language books are getting a second life at Open Books in Pilsen as a legacy project of the Librería Donceles. The exhibition of Pablo Helguera’s Librería Donceles at the Chicago Cultural Center in 2016 drew attention to the need for access to books and programming in Spanish.
Join us on April 28-29 for Open Books Pilsen’s bi-annual Garage Sale! All kids books will be $1, all paperbacks $2, and all hardcovers $3. Plus, you can fill up an entire box of books (35-40 books total) for only $40! The sale runs 10 am – 5 pm on both dates. Special discount box for teachers also available! No other deals or discounts can be used during this time.

On October 27 from 11 am - 12 noon, Open Books Pilsen welcomes all to a very special Halloween & Día de los Muertos Storytime! There will be live music, bi-lingual Storytime readings, book giveaways, arts & crafts, and more! Special prizes for those wearing costumes, this is open to all-ages!
